Introduction :
The Stoma and Wound care service at KWH have been clinically rendered by respective specialties team separately in the last decade. This might limit the scope of holistic care and pose service comprehensive lagging behind other hospitals in Hospital Authority.

With the support of the Doctors, Department Operations Manager and Ward managers in Department of Surgery, the integration was successfully achieved in August of 2024. The Inpatient consultation service for Stoma and Wound care was providing “One stop service”, which optimizing the manpower resources in Stoma and Wound team. The Stoma and Wound Nurse Clinic was merged and relocated to a new facility in the Outpatient Building, which now features two procedure beds and provides services to both Stoma and Wound cases in the same session.

The transition to an integrated Stoma and Wound care service at Kwong Wah Hospital significantly improves patient accessibility. It promotes standardized practices in Stoma and Wound care, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and the overall standard of care. Additionally, the Stoma and Wound Nurse Clinic, along with the Inpatient consultation service, now caters to all surgical cases, thereby increasing the diversity of the caseload. There have been progressive enhancements in the quality of care and patient satisfaction following the relocation of Stoma and Wound care services at Kwong Wah Hospital.
