Introduction :
Precise oxygen management can prevent complications such as hyperoxia or hypoxia, reduce the length of hospital stays, and improve overall patients' medical condition. However, common practice of oxygen titration in DTBC department depends on manual adjustments and needs intermittent patient monitoring According to the Emergency Oxygen Audit Report in 2015 by British thoracic society [4], only 69% of patients with an oxygen prescription were within the target saturation range. The development of automated oxygen titration (AOT) systems presents an opportunity to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of oxygen delivery. This system uses closed-loop monitoring to adjust oxygen levels automatically, ensuring optimal patient care and reducing the burden on healthcare professionals. Studies have supported the new automatic oxygen titration devices in improving patient survival, proper correction of hypoxemia, and avoidance of the risks of excessive oxygenation. Our department have developed this project to enhance the precision of oxygen delivery by using AOT.
Objectives :
● To ensure the precision of oxygen delivery range to the real need of the patients ● To enhance patient safety by better control between SpO2 and oxygen supply ● To decrease nursing time spent on oxygen titration
Methodology :
This project was designed to recruit optimal candidates according to inclusion and exclusion criteria by doctors and setup the prescribed parameter into the O2matic® machine for AOT. SpO2, respiratory rate and heart rate were continuously being monitored via the O2matic® machine until supplementary oxygen targeted or weaned off.
Result & Outcome :
Data collection is in progress, pending analyze result.
