Introduction :
Since NOV/2023, 8 training sessions had been conducted, 118 TUNS were trained. All of them expressed their willingness to recommend future TUNS to join this valuable training. They were satisfied with and appreciated the training.
Objectives :
- Apply nursing theory/knowledge into usual nursing practices - Acquire essential skills and competencies for delivering safe nursing care (Patient assessment, common nursing practice and handling hypoxemia and hypoglycemia) - Facilitate TUNS adaption to the clinical environment - Equip TUNS with the latest clinical knowledge and skills
Methodology :
The orientation program was structured into two components: theoretical input and simulation training. Trainers received comprehensive training on simulation debriefing before the program. Additionally, a skilled facilitator was involved throughout the program to provide guidance and support. During the theoretical input session, TUNS underwent mandatory training including data privacy, fire safety, Manual Handling Operation and infection control. Moreover, essential skills such as patient assessment, were taught to equip TUNS with the skills required for the subsequent simulation training and clinical practice. Concerning the latest service trend in clinical wards, training on electronic patient assessment form application and operation of oxygen cylinders was also integrated into the curriculum. The simulation training involved scenarios tailored to the needs of TUNS and a mini-game to raise TUNS’ clinical awareness. This training enabled them to practice essential nursing skills, identify and manage common emergency in clinical practice.
Result & Outcome :
The Goal of the project was summarized as below. - To help TUNS familiarize themselves with the hospital and working environment - To help TUNS to deliver safe nursing practice to patients - To ensure the quality of care to patients The training enabled them to practice essential nursing skills, and identify and manage common emergencies in clinical practice. Outcome was reviewed by conducting a post-course evaluation for TUNS self-reflection and provide instant feedback on the TUNS performance in the scenario-based training. The evaluation result was summarized as below (6=Strongly agree, 1=Strongly disagree). 1. To help TUNS to familiarize themselves with the hospital and working environment: 5.5/6 2. To help TUNS to deliver safe nursing practice to patients: 5.6/6 3. To ensure the quality of care to patients: 5.5/6
