Introduction :
Patient experience in healthcare is crucial for assessing the quality of care provided. Understanding patient satisfaction can enhance engagement and improve overall health outcomes. This project involved a patient satisfaction survey aimed at evaluating the quality of care in the Nurse Trichiasis Clinic at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.
Objectives :
To assess patient satisfaction with the services provided in the Nurse Trichiasis Clinic.
To identify areas for improvement in the nursing services offered.
To gather patient feedback to enhance the quality of care and service delivery.
Methodology :
A structured patient satisfaction survey was developed and administered in face-to-face interviews during clinic visits from June to August 2024. The survey included demographic data and satisfaction ratings regarding clinical environment, nursing staff, and treatment processes. A total of 30 patients participated in the survey, providing valuable feedback on their experiences.
Result & Outcome :
The survey results indicated a high level of patient satisfaction, with 100% of respondents rating their experience as satisfactory (3 or higher). Key strengths identified included the nurses’ attentiveness, willingness to answer questions, and positive service attitudes. However, about two-thirds of respondents expressed difficulty in handling the technique of trichiasis epilation, particularly among older patients. Recommendations for improvement include enhanced patient education and potential training for general nurses to expand service availability.
