Presentations

A 30-year Retrospective in Digital Health in the Hospital Authority. And What Is In Store for the Next 30 Years?

Speaker 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2025/05/27 06:00:00 UTC - 2025/05/27 07:30:00 UTC
Thirty years ago the Hospital Authority started developing its in-house electronic medical record system, the Clinical Management System, or CMS. Today this system has evolved into a sophisticated and comprehensive digital health platform, featuring the HA's digital front door, "HA Go",  dozens of Smart Hospital and AI products all fully integrated with the core CMS.
HA is now one of the few large healthcare organisations globally which still has this systems development capability. In addition, the collection of 30 years of high-quality structured and standardised data in the CMS for the entire population of Hong Kong means that the HA dataset is perhaps the highest quality large scale healthcare data set in the world today.
NT will highlight key reasons for the HA's success in this venture. He will also discuss how this very strong digital health capability will allow accelerated innovation for the future of digital health in Hong Kong.

Deploying Generative AI in Clinical Environments

Speaker 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM (Asia/Hong_Kong) 2025/05/27 06:00:00 UTC - 2025/05/27 07:30:00 UTC
Join us as we delve into the collaborative efforts of clinicians at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital, who are harnessing the power of an AI agent developed by TORTUS AI to revolutionize patient consultations.

The team lead the largest generative AI programme in healthcare, globally. This programme creates a scientific approach to assess ambient AI technology across the NHS and show scalable benefit. This 5000-patient evaluation across multiple NHS sites with differing clinical focus and digital maturity: Adult care, Paediatrics, Mental Health, Ambulance Trusts, Primary Care, Community Pharmacy and A&E. The programme also aims to show how the NHS can scale and operationalise this AI capability to improve capacity, flow and the quality of care that we deliver.

The team will talk you through their approach to deploying Generative AI in a clinical environment, starting with Trust. Delve into its tangible outcomes. Participate in dynamic conversations on integrating Generative AI into your healthcare strategy, evaluating its efficacy, and fostering trust among patients, clinicians, and stakeholders."
3 Learning Points

1) A Scientific Approach to Evaluation
A structured, evidence-based framework is essential when assessing the impact of ambient AI in healthcare. This session will explore how a rigorous evaluation methodology can provide meaningful insights into AI's scalability and clinical benefits.

2) Building Trust and Collaboration
Successful AI deployment hinges on trust. This session will highlight strategies for fostering collaboration among clinicians, patients, and stakeholders through transparent discussions, live demonstrations, and clear communication of AI's capabilities and limitations.

3) Operationalising AI in the NHS
Beyond proving AI's efficacy, the challenge lies in embedding it into real-world clinical workflows. The team will share insights on how AI can be effectively integrated within NHS systems to optimise patient consultations, improve service delivery, and enhance overall clinical efficiency.
