Abstract Description

The Hospital Authority (HA) is spearheading a visionary transformation of its Business Support Services (BSS) into intelligent, next-generation "SMART" operations, setting a new benchmark for future-ready hospitals. Recognizing critical challenges including operational inefficiencies and pressing sustainability demands across its vast network of hospitals and clinics, the HA is strategizing an innovative suite of smart BSS applications to revolutionize administrative service functions. These encompass equipment management, procurement, linen and laundry services, patient food preparations, domestic operations, security protocols, patient transportation logistics, and comprehensive patient and staff support systems.

To overcome existing hurdles with cutting-edge solutions, the smart BSS framework is built upon five strategic pillars: Robotics and Automation, Tracking and Monitoring Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Smart Hospital Support Services, Hospital Working Applications. These pillars are designed to drive operational excellence, enhance service quality and safety, and elevate both patient and staff experiences to unprecedented levels. Moreover, the HA is pioneering forward-looking innovations, including the integration of low-altitude economy applications in hospital administrative services and the establishment of a Non-clinical Command Center. This state-of-the-art hub will serve as the nerve center for smart BSS initiatives, harnessing big data-driven intelligence to facilitate proactive decision-making, predictive analytics, and optimized resource allocation.

By championing this technology-driven revolution, the HA is forging a resilient, sustainable healthcare ecosystem aligned with the Smart Hospitals vision and culture, while shaping a smarter, more agile future for healthcare delivery.
