Change Management: How To Influence For Change

This abstract has open access
Abstract Description

In today's complex healthcare environment, we find ourselves increasingly working with others in cross-system, multi-functional teams. How can we be healthcare leaders who do not just envision change across the system, but who make it happen?

If we want to make progress in change, we need to be able to influence widely, often without formal authority. In this talk, Helen Bevan will look at different forms of influence we have available to us. She will examine the critical role of trust, credibility, and relationships in influence. We will learn about the attitudes and behaviours of leaders who know how to get change done through influence whether managing up, down, or diagonally within and across healthcare organisations.

Through real-world examples and actionable insights, we will learn how to harness our influence to advocate for causes, inspire others and lead change.

Learning objectives for this keynote

•    Gain some new perspectives on the nature of influence in healthcare organisations and systems.

•    Acquire a deeper understanding of our own influencing abilities and capacity to influence others.

•    Develop strategies to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders to overcome resistance and foster collaboration.
